Sesimbra is a coastal town on the southern edge of the Setúbal Peninsula, around 38km from Lisbon, with roughly 52,000 residents across the municipality (INE Censos 2021). It is a working fishing port and a resort town at the same time — the sheltered bay below the cliffs fills with sunbathers in summer, while the harbour still lands fresh fish daily. Average asking prices reached approximately €2,700 per square metre in early 2026, making Sesimbra notably more affordable than Cascais or central Lisbon while keeping a genuine coastal lifestyle. For expat buyers, the appeal is the combination of beaches, the Serra da Arrábida natural park and a town that has kept its character. Sesimbra Vila is the historic core stacked above the bay, with a castle on the hill behind it. Inland, Quinta do Conde and Santana are larger residential parishes — Quinta do Conde in particular is a substantial commuter town with much more affordable housing and good road access toward Lisbon. The wilder coast around Lagoa de Albufeira, Aldeia do Meco and the Arrábida cliffs draws buyers who want nature and surf over town amenities. Sesimbra suits buyers wanting a real coastal town within reach of Lisbon, with prices well below the better-known Cascais–Estoril line.
